L’Agricoltura tradizionale, così per come la conosciamo è oggi in pericolo.
I disboscamenti delle foreste avvengono per cause che noi stessi generiamo. In molte foreste del globo le coltivazioni più invasive sono procurate dalle monocolture di olio di palma e gomma. Si aggiungono poi gli allevamenti di bestiame che necessitano di spazi enormi, la richiesta di legno pregiato, la legna per riscaldamento, basti pensare infatti che un terzo della popolazione mondiale ne fa’ uso come combustibile per riscaldarsi e cucinare. Ultimamente sono in aumento piantagioni per produzione di biomassa e di biometano. Ma il dato più grave e pericoloso è la marginalizzazione dell’agricoltura tradizionale. La speculazione, sempre più attiva, acquista appezzamenti da agricoltori per riconvertirli in coltivazioni intensive e invasive che non hanno nulla a che fare con l’agricoltura di ortaggi. Il 27% del disboscamento che equivale a ca. 50.000 km quadrati/anno e’ dovuto alla coltivazione di materie prime, il 26% alla silvicoltura, il 24% ad incendi, 22% cambi d’uso del suolo e solo l’1% per attività edilizie. L’amara conclusione è dovuta al fatto che ci rimette è soprattutto l’agricoltura. Continuando a depauperare gli unici polmoni del pianeta anche la sussistenza alimentare può aggravarsi. Lo stesso articolo “Alberi, cibo o energia” di Marco Magrini, La Stampa conferma che il degradamento delle terre coltivabili può diventare irreversibile con evidenti conseguenze per la sicurezza alimentare. E allora che fare ? Perchè non incentivare da subito una tecnica agricola che la stessa Fao caldeggia: l’idroponica. Dovrebbe diventare accessibile in ogni paese perchè la necessità di terreno agricolo anche non coltivabile diminuisce del 50% con una produzione 10 volte superiore all’agricoltura tradizionale. Questa tecnica agricola non è una novità , si sta espandendo nel mondo, anche in Italia, dove un caso eclatante e’ Sfera Agricola nella provincia di Grosseto. E allora perchè non prevenire queste possibili catastrofi ? I mezzi esistono, soprattutto dove i problemi sembrano non risolvibili.
